Professional Physics & Engineering Unit Converter
Reportix All-in-One Unit Converter is designed around dimensional consistency. A unit conversion changes the numerical representation of a physical quantity without changing the quantity itself. For that reason, the tool keeps mass, force, energy, torque, pressure, power and other physical quantities logically separate.
Why dimensional consistency matters
Units can only be directly converted when they describe the same physical dimension. Mass such as kilograms cannot be directly converted to force such as newtons without introducing gravitational acceleration. Similarly, torque and energy can both contain the product N·m, but they represent different physical concepts and are therefore presented as separate categories.
Exact definitions and practical precision
Where international definitions are exact, the converter uses those exact relationships. Examples include 1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg, standard gravity g₀ = 9.80665 m/s², 1 bar = 100,000 Pa and 1 standard atmosphere = 101,325 Pa. Derived decimal outputs are then displayed according to the selected precision.
Temperature is not an ordinary scale conversion
Temperature scales require both scale factors and offsets. Celsius, Fahrenheit and kelvin therefore use affine conversion equations rather than a simple multiplication factor. Values below absolute zero are flagged as physically invalid.
Useful for engineering and construction
Common construction and engineering conversions include millimetres to inches, metres to feet, square metres to square feet, cubic metres to cubic feet, MPa to psi, kN to N, N·m to lb·ft, kg/m³ to lb/ft³, litres per second to cubic metres per hour, and kW to horsepower.
Popular Unit Conversions Available on This Page
This single Reportix converter supports common searches in both directions, including mm to inches and inches to mm, meters to feet and feet to meters, square meters to square feet and square feet to square meters, cubic meters to cubic feet and cubic feet to cubic meters, kg to lb and lb to kg, Celsius to Fahrenheit and Fahrenheit to Celsius, MPa to psi and psi to MPa, bar to psi and psi to bar, km/h to mph and mph to km/h, kW to horsepower and horsepower to kW, and N·m to lb·ft and lb·ft to N·m.
Length, Area & Volume Conversions
Use the Length converter for millimetres, centimetres, metres, kilometres, inches, feet, yards, miles and nautical miles. The Area converter supports m², ft², in², yd², acres and hectares. The Volume converter supports m³, litres, millilitres, ft³, in³, yd³, US gallons and Imperial gallons.
Mass, Force, Pressure & Engineering Conversions
The Mass converter supports kilograms, grams, milligrams, tonnes, pounds, ounces and stones. Force supports N, kN, MN, lbf, kgf and dynes. Pressure supports Pa, kPa, MPa, bar, mbar, psi, atm, torr and mmHg. These categories are kept scientifically separate so mass is never incorrectly treated as force.
Temperature, Speed, Energy & Power Conversions
Convert Celsius, Fahrenheit, kelvin and Rankine using proper scale-and-offset equations. Speed supports m/s, km/h, mph, ft/s and knots. Energy supports J, kJ, MJ, Wh, kWh, calories, kilocalories, BTU and ft·lbf. Power supports W, kW, MW, mechanical horsepower, metric horsepower and BTU/h.
Torque, Density, Flow, Time, Frequency, Angle & Data
Use dedicated categories for torque, density, volumetric flow rate, time, rotational or electrical frequency, angular measure and digital storage. Decimal data units such as GB remain distinct from IEC binary units such as GiB.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can kilograms be converted directly to newtons?
No. Kilogram is a unit of mass and newton is a unit of force. Weight force is calculated using F = m·g, so a gravitational acceleration must be specified before mass can be converted into weight force.
Why is 1 inch exactly 25.4 millimetres?
The international inch is defined as exactly 25.4 millimetres. The converter therefore treats this relationship as exact rather than measured.
Why can torque and energy both use N·m but remain separate?
They represent different physical quantities. Energy is a scalar quantity associated with work or transferred energy, while torque is a moment of force associated with rotational effect. Their dimensional expressions are related, but their physical meaning is not interchangeable.
Does the converter work without uploading data?
Yes. All calculations are performed locally in the browser. No file upload or backend processing is required for the unit conversion engine.

All-in-One Unit Converter FAQ
Can I convert units in both directions?
Yes. Select any compatible source and destination units in the same physical category. For example, you can convert MPa to psi or psi to MPa, kg to lb or lb to kg, and Celsius to Fahrenheit or Fahrenheit to Celsius.
Does this converter mix mass and force?
No. Mass and force are separate physical quantities. Kilograms belong to mass, while newtons and pound-force belong to force. The converter keeps dimensionally different quantities separate.
Which engineering conversions are included?
The page includes common engineering quantities such as length, area, volume, force, pressure, speed, acceleration, energy, power, torque, density, flow rate, frequency and angle, alongside everyday unit categories.
Are SI, metric and Imperial units supported?
Yes. Depending on the selected category, the tool includes SI and metric units together with commonly used US customary and Imperial units.
